Sli performance in ARMAII

I have the below cards, running 1 card, I get better FPS than if I had them in SLi.

Any other games give better performance in SLi, is there anything I can do to address this?

ArmaII is very cpu dependant I believe. Apart from changing your CPU or turning down settings, I don't think you can do much :(

Arma 2 is just a terrible engine optimisation/fps wise. Even with one card I never get 99% usage and constant dips into the low 20's. Probably due to the engine age also.

In its defence the scale of Arma maps and AI capabilities have always stressed whole systems, especially the CPU, so it cannot match the same graphical performance as other shooters. I understood SLi was effective in Arma so it might be worth asking on the BIS forums (I am AMD based fo can't comment).

Out of interest, what sort of FPS do you get ?

As buzzard as this sounds, a few years ago i had 2x 9600gso's in sli and couldn't get arma2 working with it.

I found a tip that involved remaining arma2.exe to crysis.exe and it worked. The gpu load was pretty much even between both of the cards.

Dunno if it still works, I have had a gtx 460, gtx 480 and a 7970 since then.

crossfire works. And I believe SLI works for my friends using it. try the -winxp launch tag.

What ingame settings do you use. AA absolutely DESTROYS performance.

video memory should be set to default.

Are you running combined ops + all latest patches.

Also if you're playing DayZ or perhaps normal arma2 or ACE but on a crap server. No matter how fast your PC is. If the sever FPS is struggling in the 3s and 4s its gonna bring everyone down with it.

These are the settings i use with crossfire 5870s and a 4Ghz 920.

I usually run with 3-4k view distance on the ground and while flying will have 6-8k. If recording while flying ill drop the AA to OFF. Ignore the visibility setting as i overwrite that using the InstantViewDistance mod (IVD)

view distance is set by servers and is normally 1k And I swear I read somewhere that 3k is the max possible view distance anyway

10k is the absolute max the engine allows, but most systems will slow to a slideshow anywhere near that (its good for standing on a high point and looking around but dont move !). 1-2k is the typical server-set range in my experience, though I prefer 3k for a mix of urban combat and fast jet flying, though 2k is fine if you are only taking up choppers. Its all system dependent anyhow, and some servers allow you to alter it to your needs and performance.
