Ok, so my friend bought this computer a few years ago: http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/advent/pc/GX9000.htm

And all he used to do on it was play runescape. So he didn't really need to good of a pc to run that, however now he wants to start gaming again, and he purchased skyrim and starcraft ETC ect. His computer however couldn't run either of them, it was like playing in screen shots, so he gave it to me to look at and i found the problem. The computer can detect both g-cards but its only ever running one. The cards themselves don't need an SLI bridge ive done my research, both of them are working and both the PCI slots are working as well. I spoke to my friend and he said that you need to set up the cards so that one of them is master and the other is a slave.

I've tried to go into the bios menu and went to the SLI settings in there, and the only option I had was to disable/enable the EZ_master plug. I think thats what is was called.

So here's my question how do it do this, I've tried to set this up via the NVIDIA controlPanell on the PC and had no luck. I also tried to see if there was a switch on the m-board/cards themselves and there wasn't anything. So im stuck now :o. Any help is appreciated! :)

The card is plugged in correctly (Dual video cards) but still is only running one graphics card and not using the other one at all, I mean i understand its asking a bit much to play Skyrim, but the computer struggles to run Runescape. My friend has an 8 year old computer with worse specs than this (Just a better gcard) and he can run wow in 60fps. It just has me baffled.

Tell him to buy a new pc, saves a lot of hassle. Cause, in the end , if you get sli enabled, you still can't play it :)

That is an option yes, but my skills in fixing computers isn't that great, and I would like all the practice I can get. Even though technically the guys replying are the ones fixing it, it still gives me knowledge :)

OK so I've managed to convince him to get a new graphics card. Any recommendations with a budget under £100 I know its not much but that's all he's willing to spend, preferably a single card as well because I never got SLI working
