The closest I have come to a sli setup is 2 voodoo 2's back in the day :). My question is, would two GTS equal 1280MB vram, doubling the memory or does it work differently?
I am asking because I am thinking of either going sli in a year or so or, jumping the gun on the EVGA step up program. Any info on SLI is much appreciated.

Thank you.

To my knowledge you still only ( ) get the 640. I believe each card gets identical data and then is left to either work with the top or bottom of each frame or render each alternating frame!

Hopefully someone else will post to confirm! :)

Agreed, double the GPU power, not the RAM. It still pays generally to upgrade to the more powerful card before you SLI. IMHO, the 8800 GTX is the only card that should be SLi'd.

If i were you i'd jump the gun on the EVGA step up and get either one gtx (or it's next incarnation) rather than a 2nd gts. It'd save you a little cash and you'd still get awesome performance! You would only really need 2 gtx's if you were using a 24"+ monitor and a cutting edge game. :)

I have to agree with this, unless you can get a 2nd card very cheap (for cards below 8800GTX), but for these new cards thats hard to do.
