Hello, I'm thinking of getting another graphics card so I can run 3 screens at once, I already have a GTX 480, would buying a GTX 460 create any issues or slow down the GTX 480?

Thanks, sorry for newbie question :P

2 different cards is NOT SLI. Sliing is when you've got 2 the same cards (two 480s for example), or when you mod BIOS one of them to make SLI working (I've heard about 460 and 470).
nVidia always says that the fastest case is when you plug just one monitor to your system and rest is disabled. But I doubt if you will notice any difference with 2 graphic cards having 3 screens - because it's probably not for gaming, but for some other useful things, isn't it ?

Thanks for the reply :) I understand now, I do game but I also need 3 screens for various jobs (mainly design) So having two different graphics cards will not cause any problems or issues?

It will be fine, you could always enable the GTX460 as your Physx card as well. It's just not SLI. You will need a pretty good PSU to run both cards though (At a guess 750W+)

480 gtx cant display 3 monitor.
you will need another 480 gtx to enable sli and 3 monitor support.
if you buy 460 you wont be able to enable sli hence 3 monitor support will also not work.

you really should have bought ati if you want single card multi monitor support than 480gtx.

3 monitors will be supported by a GTX480 + a GTX460, BUT, only the 2 monitors connected to the primary card will be able to display a DirectX game.

Okay thank you, didn't intend to game on my third monitor with that card the GTX 460, so is there any point in getting a GTX 460 when I could get a cheaper card to just run another screen? Since it wouldn't run games anyway? Or will it benefit programs that use graphics cards (becoming more popular I think)?

Depends if you think PhysX is important, but probably not. A GT430 would be enough to do PhysX offload without bottlenecking your GTX480, and provide a 3rd screen for non gaming use.
