Long story short. I went to clean out the PC, as I often do every few months. Took apart everything cleaned all the coolers, reapplied thermal paste blah blah.
I put everything back and switch on, and SLI is no longer being detected.
Both cards work fine individually, the all 4 PSU connections seems fine.
I have tried swapping the cards around, but the other one is not detected, I have tried reinstalling older drivers and nothing.
Any clues on where to start? The only thing I can think of is to try different driver versions.
My specs :
2 x GTX 570s
Phenom II 1090
Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3
8gb ddr3
1000W psu
Other info : Only one 570 shows in device manager, both cards seem to power up.
edit: solved after spending an hour swapping the cards around and back again, and reinstalling drivers. Not sure what the cause was, the cards only work in a certain order too. This has happened before with no real cause, I think the motherboard may have issues.
