I flashed my bios last night to enable sli on my mobo....if I get another 970 do I just buy the connector thingy separate? I'm upgrading to a 1440p monitor in March and I'm thingy that at this res my single 970 won't cut it...

If anyone wants to post me an sli thingy please contact me trust

usually included with your mobo mate otherwise yeah just buy a bridge, If you don't know what spacing you need get a bendy bridge

I doubt updating the bios will make it support sli..
What motherboard you got?

Done it last night...Asus P6T SE flashed to Asus P6T

The SE version is a crossfire only mobo with no sli due to Asus saving money on the licence....The P6T mobo does both....I just crossflashed to unlock sli ;)

Where do you get the higher quality metal bridges? Nvidia sell them, but out of stock it seems. Same with EVGA. I do like those Nvidia ones though, would go great with the reference card.

Be interesting to see how you get on with this easy, as mentioned above. See if you can get a long flexible bridge. Saves the hassle of looking for a rigid one to suit your boards spacing. Asus boards ive owned lately have had pretty varied spacing between primary gpu slots. Board in sig being much tighter than my previous Z77 board.

Will do mate...looks like the bay is the place :)

Don't know if someone can help me out here but I've got an issue setting up 2 gtx 970's in sli on my system. It's an Asrock z77 extreme4 mobo - system was built about end of the summer 2013 - never updated the bios on any pc before I hope I don't need to do this. Both cards are showing in the main control panel and the nvidia one. Latest drivers are installed but when I goto the nvidia control panel the disable sli mode is checked, everything else is greyed out...I cannot change anything. I've deleted and reinstalled bot the drivers and cards, my monitor works from either card so they're obviously both working. I've tried 2 different sli bridges from both connectors on this cards but I cannot get this sli thing setup. I've now spent 2 days trying to tackle this issue...I NEED HELP! I'm hoping there's no need to update the bios as both cards are being seen - if it's the bridges that are at fault I don't know (after reinstalling both cards and the drivers it does tell me no bridge is present afterwards ever when I have connected one). If someone can help me figure this sort please do!

Apologies for hijacking this thread but I've no idea what else to do...my cards are listed beloew (was told they should work even though they're not exactly the same - the OCUK guy assured me it would be fine and so did a tech guy prior to purchase).

I have a couple of floppy connectors. If you want one, trust me your addy and I will get it posted tomorrow.

Are you unable to select the option where it says "maximize 3d performance" in the sli configuration menu of the nvidia control panel?

That area is shown but it seems all greyed out. There is a tick in the radio option where it shows that disable sli is chosen but I can't change out of that. I was told that below that in the window where it shows both cards that there should be a green line or something connecting both - don't know if that's true or not. But I did try removing both cards again, uninstalling them and the drivers, then doing them again one at a time and once the second card was installed with the bridge attached it displayed a brief message about the bridge being missing which is weird...

Sweet never knew that was possible.

A few companies did it. Crossfire = free, SLI = license fee.

I remember the Foxconn Flamingblade could be flashed to run the Bloodrage bios and then support SLI. Did it myself.. FB was £129 BR was £170.

Edit. Oh yeah. Easy, I have about 50 SLI bridges. Brown, black, Asus, MSI, Giga etc. I'll send you one for free but I'm not paying postage. So if you want one trust me.
