SLI ultras

Just quick one I was thinking when the new cards come out and prices drop I may throw another ultra in the mix but does it have to be identical as I have an EVGA KO edition what I mean is can it be a plain evga ultra

So long as its the same chip, you're fine. Brands matter not.

It can be any Ultra. But IMO that's a huge outlay for a questionable improvement. Can't you sell the Ultra before 9800 comes out and use the money to buy a 9800GTX?

could be months till a set release date, then even longer to secure good stock. worth the risk? guess its how much you need to play games between now and next year

Well on Crysis @ 1920x1200, where I was getting 27fps I now get 50fps.

So why do people keep saying that Crysis doesn't use SLI cards yet?

It uses SLI but they say performance isn't what it should be. So it can only get better with patches and driver updates.

I posted my benchmark results on a thread a while back. Do a search for my name and look for a thread with Crysis in the title(or was it about the 8800GT). It's there somewhere.

ave - 41.53fps
max - 53.68fps

min 25.79fps (higher?)
ave 37.78fps
max 49.28fps

min - 21.55
ave - 42.38
max - 57.38

min - 19.75

Excellent, thanks for that. Great FPS especially with 4xAA 16xAF @ 1920x1200. Hmmm, should I or shouldn't I?

Won't match what you'll see in-game though. At 1680x1050 without AA my GT gets 35fps in the benchmark but at points in the game it's dropping to 15 or below.
