Question about 8800 series cards. I'm thinking in upgrade my graphics cards. Have 2 7600 Gt's and thinking in changing. The question is put a 8800 GTS 640Mb solo or two 8800 GT 512Mb in SLi mode. Which is better ?

I would do neither.

I would not buy a 8800GTS 640 today and would not go SLI unless you game at 2500'S RES on a massive Monitor, 1920's is fine for 1 high end card so thats a 24" LCD.

Buy 1x 8800GTS 512 (new model) or wait on next cards soon.

For starters, definitly dont get the GTS 640mb, as said above. These are the old modles, the new 512mb ones are faster and beat the GTX in some bencharms when AA isn't added i beleive.

As for sli, in my eyes if you want the extra performance it can make a good difference. Especialy fi you like AA and AF.

At 1900x1200 the difference can be anywhere up to 80% in extra frames.

The only reason id say dont get sli is because the next gen of both ati and nvida will be out early next year and they will probably whipe the floor of any sli or crossfire setup you buy now and therefore you might as well save the money on the second card ready for the next one :p

welcome to the forums, mate, as above avoid sli, its only useful if you have a 30 inch monitor, plus nvidia are bringing new cards out in february/march, ive used sli in the past, and its a curse, a good single card is the better option sometimes, youll find all the info you need on this board and a merry xmas to you
