I've just come back from a weekend away and want to put my photos onto DVD to form a slideshow I can play in my DVD player. I want to be able to make title slides and add a background music track. I've tried NERO Vision Express 3 and cannot get to grips with it. Any suggestions?

All video editing software will allow you to do this , Pinnacle ,Ulead ,Serif Movie Plus .There's also some great dedicated software for this ,Pro Show Gold , Pics to TV, Memories ON TV ,Letts photo Express and lots of others. Some of the better ones have the Ken Burn's Effect , which I really like . This effect is where the picture pan's & zoom's .A good one I got free from a PC mag was Letts Photo Express by Canopus .This has some great unusual effects ,you can download the working demo from there site .It only lets you add one .mp3 for background music though , but still gives you an idea of what it can do .

Windows movie maker wil do the job for free, and there is a program included in vista that will burn the video file back to a dvd if you dont have one already

I dont think anything is free nowadays. I was only aware of so much good software as I used to download *arez for many years and I must admit if I liked the product I would buy it . To be honest ,it was the only way to test software to see if it was any good , as you could'nt aford to buy it all. I dont download anything anymore ,and have to make do with what I have. But , if you try this site :
h**p://www.canopusoft.com/lets_photo_dvd.htm

and look to the right of the screen , "download express " it will allow you to trial a very good program . I use the very same and it will allow you to make a good photoshow and save it as a .wmv . HTH

ULEAD CD and DVD Pictureshow 4 looks quite good. It's got the Ken Burns feature and only costs £14.99 from their website. Anyone used it??

Microsoft's Photostory 3 is free and very good as well.

I did a DVD slide show with a backing track and narration over certain slides for my parents-in-law's golden wedding.

It will let you put captions on the slides and you can add different transistions between the slides.

It creates a wmv file as the end product but then you can easily put that onto DVD using Nero or something.

I agree about PhotoStory .I had to install this a while back on the school PC's ,but never tried the program out . A teacher put some of his holiday pix into the program for a trial and I was really impressed . Some great effects . Yes , this program is well worth having.

Use Muvee4 Autoproducer (www.muvee.com) myself. Great little programme also with the Ken Burns effect. Several different styles (can purchase more if needed) of movie from slides and you can also add movie clips and sound tracks and edit and change the effect of both the title and credit.

Also burns the finished article to DVD, VCD and SVCD with different disc themes to suit the occasion.

Think I paid £12 for it about 18months ago.

Ive tried Photostory 3 and really like its design but it hasn't got built in title slides (easy to make some in Photoshop I suppose) and NERO didn't recognise the DVD format save. I think its really designed as a PC Viewer rather than a DVD Viewer but I haven't actually tried making a DVD to play on my player. I'll give it a go though.
Muvee hmmm. The web demo is a bit naff but I'll investigate it further.
