Slight Rattle...

Recently i have noticed a slight rattle in the engine on my Corsa. Still rattles for a few seconds after my car has been turned off. You can hear it when the car is idle and it doesn't seem to get worse when i accelerate?

Any ideas what it is and how to stop it?

Apart from that being rediculously vague. From what i've heard it's best you learn to live with it as it seems most corsas come like this as standard!

cheers it is a 1996 model so....

The rattle sounds like a banging and scratching seems to go away when I am driving, dont no if that its not loud enough to be herd over the engine noise but only seem to notice it when idle and just turned of the car.

I vote for the exhaust heat shield rattling... On most cars, they have a habit of rusting around the mounting bolts and eventually just snapping. Not important, so if it is this then just live with it
