I'm looking to replace my 'classic' old style gas fire with something modern and slim (height)

The idea is to have the fire fairly low with a floating shelf above it and my plasma wall mounted above that.

I don't want the plasma at a neck breaking height so thought this would be a possible solution.

I wouldn't really recommend putting a plasma tv above any kind of fire/heater because if it's heating the room purely by convection (ie not fan assisted) then the maximum amount of heat will be passing over the screen.

I've already tested this using my existing fire and a temporary shelf. The wall above the fire only heats up a few degrees. Without the shelf there's a huge heat build up.
