Of course a MBP that takes a leaf out of the MBA's book would be cosmetically beautiful. On the other hand when I switch over to Windows in bootcamp on my Feb Macbook pro for games it will cause my MBP to sometimes get so hot it will go into standby mode to stop itself from over heating.

Now if they make the next MBP like the MBA and put a Nvidia 650M or better in the 2012 model surely it'll get so hot I could cook my dinner on it. I know I should buy a Windows PC for when I'm in a gaming mood but I don't want my living room crammed full of devices. There's already too much stuff in my living room already. :D

Do you folks think they'll make the MBP like the MBA, and if so are you concerned about how it'll perform in intense software if they do?

I can't see it happening to be honest. Most people in the market for a MBP will be looking for function over form (to a point) and will need the powerful processors (CPU and GPU), disk space, larger screen sizes and things like Ethernet ports. I don't even think those Airs are compatible with Kensington locks either... clearly not aimed at professionals. I would say burning discs is a professional requirement for a lot of people too, so for those reasons I don't think they will be changing the form factor much in the near future.

Really?! I'd take that back personally. Or do you use it wrapped in a blanket or something?

I have my MBP connected to my TV so I can play in 1080p. I find it over heats if the MBP's screen is down. Ive been recently leaving it open and it's been lasting longer during games.

I wouldn't recommend putting the lid down on any laptop that's being put through its paces. It's surprising how much heat escapes through the keyboard and palm rest area that would otherwise be trapped with the lid closed.

Ive never had my MBP overheat in games in fact its one of the best cooled laptops ive ever seen!

I also hope for a full blown MBP in 15 and 17" form with dedicated graphics and powerful cpu, as stated above i very much doubt Apple would lose the market share for high end laptops just to make them look better.

So it still overheats when the lid is open and it's on a flat surface?

If so, something is wrong there.
