Sometimes ok but usually very slow. Other computer on same network are ok. tried system restore but still no good.
What should I be looking at? Don't want to reinstall XP if it can be avoided
Any ideas???

How many computers are on the network and are they sharing the same internet connection?

It’s possible the other computers on the network could be hogging all the bandwidth leaving you with none, as you’ve done a system repair and this hasn’t helped this usually rules out software problems, perhaps try a full install?

Another possibility is the network card could be on its way out, also the Cat5 cable, what speed is the network card running at? I suppose you haven’t you got any of the above lying around to test?
