Hi

I just done a fresh install... so I installed Windows XP, then SP2 after that I installed the latest nForce4 AMD (which is what I need right? Im on AMD X2 3800 and Asus A8N-E NForce 4 Ultra) Installed all latest windows updates and installed latest ATi drivers.

Now when I was installing Oblivion it took forever, before I formatted didnt take this long have I done something wrong maybe? The computer dosent seem slow or anything could it be the Nforce drivers?

I installed the raid that came with disc @ Windows setup..thats all

do you need both chipset & nforce? :S

i found i had to get the right combination of raid drivers and nforce drivers for it to work fast. if i had the two newest ones it was VERY SLOW, but if i had the original raid driver that came with board and second from newest Nforce driver for my board it was spot on as fast as raid 0 could be.

i thought Nforce ran chipset? or i am gettin confused

I think they do, its a Nforce 4 motherboard? so I should maybe try earlier nforce release?

im using the raid that came on driver cd

yeh the nforce drivers control all the stuff on the mobo. well mine do anyway. to be honst if its only slow at installing its nothin to bad is it, mine was slow on boot up took over 8 minutes.

if its original raid that will be most stable with your board newer ones on my board where bit dodgy, try the original Nforce drivers you have on disk

hmm mine was like that before which is why i formatted :O well it never took 8mins, but it took around 1 min sometimes.ever since i installed these its loaded quick but now theres something else >_<

mines nvidia too cus the driver cd says nvidia chipset..

One thing to check(this happened with me with installing oblivion and took forever) was that my dvdrw had gone into pio mode instead of dma after trying to read a scratched disc so many times before previously.
In device manager check primary/secondary channels for dma status,if its in pio mode uninstall both channels then reboot and windows will detect dma status again(don`t worry you won`t lose any data on hds).

Lol, DMA2, that should be on DMA6 at least, not sure what setting comes up with sata though.

Doesnt look like its picking up your drive properly, what does the bios say in regards to the hard drive?
