sloppy clutch on leon

My uncle has just rang he said whne he got in his car either last night or this morning (cant remember what he said now) the clutch was loose and floppy

was fine after about 5 minutes though.

I have no idea what is up thought you guys may have

If its a hydraulic clutch it probably has air in the system and just needs bleeding.

I had a problem with the clutch pedal dropping half way until I pulled it back up! It was functioning ok, just much lower than normal.

It was a one off, but seems it is a symptom of possible clutch master cyclinder failure. I'll wait to see if it happpens again. Have a look around www.seatcupra.net for similar stories. (even if it's not a cupra, the advice will still be helpful)

Bleeding the system is worth doing in the meantime though.

How many miles has it done?

There is a problem with some VAG clutches. Mine went in my company car at 30k after the symptoms you describe for a few hundred miles before hand.

It also happened to Jez in his, and again at around 30k I believe.

Both were replaced under warranty.

Mine wasnt the same issue, my clutch actually exploded :S

I just can't understand how a clutch would explode

It was random, i was just cruising at about 95-100 on the M6 in 5th, all of a sudden a huge loud bang and it was as if it wasnt in gear, i just coasted to a stop with the clutch pedal all loose on the floor and the gearstick stuck in 5th.

AA man turned up and looked inside some sort of rubber grommit filled hole which enabled him to look into the clutch (or something), he put his finger in and there was loads of iron filing looking bits all over it. Told me it had just exploded.

he says it happens everytime until the car warms up.
