Ive moved onto a new case, including a new CPU cooler.

Now, ive got a problem.

When I try to place my RAM sticks into the blue slots of the motherboard, I dont get any display on startup followed by 1 medium/long and 2 short beeps.
Tried separate sticks in both blue slots, all the same.

One of my black slots is covered by the CPU cooler, but the other is fine.
When I insert either of the RAM sticks inside the black slot, system boots fine and hence I am writing this topic now.

My motherboard is Asus M4A78LT-M 760G

Is it possible that the slots got shortened while moving all my parts or something, should I buy a new motherboard ?

Everything is connected properly before someone asks.

Have you tried one stick in the black slot you can get at and one in either of the blue slots?

If you have carried out the tests you say above it sounds as though the problem is with the blue slots?

The OP says he has tried the black slot and the blue slots.

Not that he has tried one in the black slot and one in a blue slot together.

Yes, no display. Also that would still make me habe only 2gb as the kit is dual chanell afaik

You're wrong about it only giving you 2GB if you used a black and a blue slot.

You may end up with 4GB in single channel mode but it would still be 4GB.

I suggest you take take everything out and fit it again into you case.

It may be that there's a short or some strain on the motherboard causing the blue slots not to work.

If you're brave you can try setting everything up outside of you case and try the blue slots then. Set it up on a cardboard box (the one the motherboard came in would be ideal). Don't put it on an anti static bag.

Hmm, ages ago (I think) I tried fitting in the sticks into blue ram slots and I might have not put them in properly (I was doign this to troubleshoot) and there was a slight burning smell coming out of the area of the slots. Luckily RAM works all fine.

Could that be it ?
