Slow As Hell...

I have a HP Pavilion A6557.uk

Specs:

AMD Phenom 9550 Processor
(2.2GHz, 3600MHz FSB, 512KB Cache)
Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Premium 64-bit
4GB Memory
1TB Hard Drive
Dual DVD-Re-Writer with Lightscribe
512MB ATI Radeon HD 3650 Graphics
15-in-1 Card Reader
6 USB Connections

Computer itself seems quick, but when I go on the internet, it's slow.
I have formatted computer to make sure it's not software causing it.
I'm using Internet Explorer 7.
Seems the same with other browsers too.
I'm on a 20mb connection for broadband.

I have ran Spyware cleaners, ad-ware cleaners and virus scans too...

Any advice?

Might sound stupid but have you actually done a speed test online?

Upload Speed - 727 kbps

Download - 19701 kbps
Upload - 736 kbps

The problem would seem to be with your connection in some way rather than the PC especially if it is only the browser that is going slow, speed seems ok, do the test at http://speedtest.net/ and see what ping it gives you, could be a problem with latency.

Another weird question, how slow is it and what hove you got to compare it against.

So you get full speed downloads but browsing websites are slow?

If no one suggests any other solutions on here you could always try putting a topic on the virgin media newsgroups. They might be able to help but you might have to wait till tomorrow to get a response because of new years day.

22 ms ping

and its just websites...i have an old AJP laptop and that is quick on the net, so this pc shud be too :confused:

Your laptop is quick on the net for web browsing but your PC, that has been formatted, seems to struggle to load up websites. Strange one :confused:

I know, I don't know what but it's doing my head in.
It can be a quick PC for everything else, just seems to be slow loading pages....my Laptop would load the page in 1-3 seconds, this PC loads the page in 8secs+

Are you connecting wired or wirelessly?

Lets just recap;
Net connection is fine as speed and ms are quick, other PC works fine on the same connection.
PC is fine as it runs everything else ok, but internet slow on more than one browser.

The problem is either with the hardware you're connecting to the internet through, your lan/wlan connector. Or a problem with your IP configuration.

Laptop (OLD)
Internet browsing = FAST
Loading Apps = Quickish

New PC
Internet Browsing = SLOW
Loading Apps = Fast(ish)

I don't know how to configure my internet settings lol.
Also, I have downloaded the updates for my Ethernet card (Connected wired)
