Slow BF3 Map Load times since changing graphics card

I didn't know whether to post this in the graphics forum, or this forum. Anyway, since I've changed to an an ATI 6950 2GB, map load times have been very bad. Anything from 30 - 60 seconds. Before, it only used to take 10 to 15 seconds. Has anybody else had the same problem, and how did they resolve it? I've tried that ATI Tray Tools fix, but that didn't work.

My specs are:
i7 930 @ 2.8Ghz
4GB XMS3 @ 1600Mhz
Sapphire ATI 6950 2GB (running with latest drivers)
Corsair 750W
Asus Rampage II Gene
10,000RPM 70GB Raptor.

As far as I am aware, there is no fix, yet.

What card did you have before?

A GTX295, but the micro-stuttering issues were a pain (dual core card), it only had 896mb of mirrored VRAM (1.79GB in total) and it was also a DX10 card. Also planning on flashing the 6950 to a 6970 soon.
Have you been experiencing the same problem as myself? I might try and downgrade my drivers and see if that will improve anything. I've also read (on another forum), that a guy with 4GB of RAM upgraded to 8, and that fixed it for him. But I think it all points to the graphics card as that's the only thing I've changed.

For me the game is just broken, I tried getting a refund from EA Live chat, but I might aswell have thrown my £30 in the bin rather then fanny around trying to get this game to load at all half the time.

Who would have believed that one GTX 470 would run the game better than 2 GTX 560's on an identical PC with the same drivers.

I've spent longer trying to find solutions to many problems with this game than I have playing it.

I might give it another in a few months time to see if DICE have made any improvements, but I won't hold my breath.

Map load times vary for me. I'm on a 1.5GB 580, and sometimes the map will load within 10 - 15 seconds, and other times I can be sat there waiting for up to a minute or more.

I'm sometimes first in waiting about then sometimes I seem to spawn at base with everyone gone in the vehicles, having to hoof it to the first cap

CF 5850s

My slow load times were down to only having 4GB of RAM. As soon as I got 8 my load times were nice and quick. It seems my memory usage was just high enough to start using the page file which was having a rather nasty effect on my load times :(

Not sure whether a gfx card change has caused your PC to use a little more memory but that's definitely what solved it for me :)

Don't think the load times are all down to storage, there is only so much to load and I know my setup could fill the RAM 50 times over before the levels load for me sometimes!

My spec in my rig, takes bloody ages for me to load a game, liturally about a min.

Its because iv got 2 old 80gb HDD's from about 6 years ago, but i ain't bothered about loading times really lol.

In the windows performance thing my hdd's only score 4.5, and rest of my rig is 7.5 +

SSD load times are considerably quicker and having about 6 gig of RAM is enough to load everything.

This game loves SSD and high memory GFX cards

I have a single Ice Q Turbo edition of the 6950 and although it doesn't load as quick as I would have thought it should (my comparison is to Black Ops), its not slow. I can be in map with 15-20 seconds to go before round starts.

Oh yeah, for info.....I got one of those old style, dated HDD.....they were called SATA if you guys remember them

I heard that bc2 used to have slow load times with ati cards but was pretty quick with nvidia cards (depending on the rest of the system specs).

BF3 isn't particularly slow for me, but I do wonder if it would be faster if I had a Nvidia, not that I'm planning on switching.

So, any slow loaders on Nvidia? (Post the rest of your specs please)

I had this issue in the beta, It was fine for the first week then loading times quadrupled overnight and i hadnt changed anything.

Hasnt happened in the retail (yet).

I have long load times on the first join for some reason :(
All I norm do is click connect, then when it says loading... I just alt+f4 and click connect again on battlelog and suddenly the same server+map loads in seconds rather than minutes.

Not sure if this is an ATI issue but it seems almost as if something is grinding away in the background on the first join  (origin or pb maybe?)

What is the ati tray tools fix?

yes this was true then a new patch came out or drivers and it almost loaded straight away, took a good few weeks though if I remember
