I live in a rural location and I only get about 1.2mb on broadband. This is fine and I can live with this as I live about 7 mile from my exchange. However the past 2-3 weeks it has been getting steadily worse. I am with fast.co.uk and they have been getting me to send them speedtester.bt.com reports to them and they keep on saying that it is testing fine.
I like to watch iplayer which on 1.2mb is 'just' watchable but now i just cant watch it at all.
This morning I tested with bt and received these results
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download Speed
731 Kbps
0 Kbps 2000 Kbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 731 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :1632 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 1250 Kbps
Now according to fast thats perfectly fine but it I have been having speeds 1200 kbs to 1400 kpbs for about 2 eyars with fast.
I have done the usual stuff like checking their is nothing in the background downloading stuff and have changed the wireless password so no one is connected via wireless.
Any ideas?
