OK this is the story, connected up a new monitor via DVI and installed drivers. Previous was with standard VGA.
From that point on my internet speeds just dropped from a 1mb connection to 0.1mb connection. I can not see how a new monitor can cause this but previous to the new monitor all was fine, so that I feel is just a coincidence.
Was having trouble with the wi fi router, it was a Belkin ADSL WI FI Router, nearly every morning had to physically power off for 5 mins then power back on to get it to connect. Changed that to a Netgear and so far no probs apart from slow internet on the Desktop.
The laptop is working fine and getting speeds on there of 1mb so no probs with the router or the actual connection. On the desktop I am using Belkin PCI WI FI card. I have formated and reinstalled windows and the software I had on previously and have configured the TCP/IP settings for optimum use. MTU, etc.......still the same prob. I had the belkin routerand wi fi card for 13 months now and the router has been replaced and I intend to replace the wi fi card in case.
Is there anything else I should try, and if it is the belkin products then I am very unhappy out of warranty..just and they go bang I will never buy belkin again and will write to the company. They just dont make things to last these days.
