Slow BT Broad band

Iv been with BT for many years now since 2007? I think when BT offered me 8meg appose to AOL's 2meg at the time, but been stuck in the same speed in my rural area for many years, out of the blue I got a email saying your broadband has been upgraded, now I get 16meg, when it was 8meg I got around 500kb download speed per sec sometimes less, now its firing along at a nice 1.7 to 1.8mb/s no idea what they've done cause cable certainly aint in our area but they didn't come to the house no nothing, haven't seen anyone working on the phone lines in my street.

But it feels iv got a rocket strapped to my router now compared to a anchor when downloading etc.

Lmao, a year without any resolution. That's what happens on a Market 1 exchange - BT have no incentive to care. If someone else broke ground on dropping in a fibre network that exchange would get magically fixed.

Were not even scheduled to get Infinity until the end of 2016, and that's only because of a government funded programme to get faster internet in rural areas.

This morning I signed on to the BT Forums as last resort - It seems half the country is having the same problem but BT won't admit it - there are pages and pages of posts just like my first post and it seems for a lot it's been recent - Others have had problem for years.

According to Mod post the problem is now being investigated.

I just happened to look out of window then and saw a pink pig with yellow spots just fly past.

Fixed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know what's happened - not had a phone call or email but lines back to normal - instant action from hitting button - no delay just action.

Only thing any good to come out of this is I have cleaned and checked all connections and planned a future update for line in and run Ethernet cable to loft at same time.

Yet BT still charge a premium price tag yet provide nothing short of exceptionally poor service. Customer service is a total joke, want to make a complaint or have a technical problem your shuffled straight over to India. Yet if you want to leave you get to speak to some knowledgeable person in the UK. Literally demanded my MAC last night on the phone.
