Hi all,

We got a slow cooker as a wedding present, and on the second time we used it my wife dropped a bottle of red wine on it and smashed the pot. It was a mess!

We ordered a replacement and have been using it a few times and it seems fine. Only the lid doesn't really fit on top of the pot like the original one did. It was a direct replacement from Crock Pot, so it's a bit odd I think. I'm worried that it's going to result in longer cooking times or things not cooking as well - like I said we've used it 3 or 4 times and it seems fine, but it would be good to get other people's thoughts.

As you can see it rocks slightly, and as I move the lid around you'll see it is much smaller than the pot is.

Am I worrying for no reason? Thanks

PS. I already chucked the receipt from Crock Pot and I feel like I've left it too late to contact them now as we've used it a few times since.

Alas I can't see the video (work filters) however if the lid comes into contact with the pot all the way around the rim you should be okay. When cooking, the steam from the liquid heating up should form a seal when it hits the lid and cools down.

Hmmm, you see that's the problem, because it rocks/tilts side to side it doesn't form a seal all the way around. I mean things have been cooking fine in it (there's a bolognese in there right now :)) but I wanted to check. Maybe I'll call them and see what they say.

Just stick some tin foil around the edges to help hold it in place.

Alternatively, contact the company again with a link to the video and if see if they'll replace anyhow. If you've got your previous contact saved (emails?) you might get away without having to provide another receipt. Even if you haven't it's worth a try as it's only going to cost you 5 minutes of your time.
