Slow copying files over LAN

Having some weird issues here. I use the standard file sharing in Windows XP to transfer files between my PC and laptop over a gigabit LAN connection. Nice and fast, used to work great. I did a clean install of Windows on my PC recently and now its a bit messed up.

When I use the PC to initiate the file copying from/to the laptop, it goes really slowly (i.e. tens of minutes instead of seconds). But when I use the laptop to copy files from/to the PC it zips along at the usual gigabit speeds. Since the connection itself seems fine, the only thing I can think of is some config or tweak in the fresh Windows on the PC.

Any ideas?

what av / antispyware software are you running?

could be scanning files too much as they are arriving

I guess it doesn't matter.. after a bunch of installing new software and restarting, it kinda resolved itself. I don't get Windows sometimes :o

edit: If anyone cares, it seems it was prioritising file sharing through the wireless connection (sharing cable via wireless router here). Turned it off and all is good. Huzzah!
