slow cpu

i have a Intel core to quad q6600 and a maximus formula board. When i run cpuz its showing my core speed as 2333.9 MHz I'm not sure y its showing up slower than it should be can some one help.

run CPU-z and tell us the multiplier and FSB setting

Did you set it to 333x7 for some reason? Stock speed is 266x9

I'm guessing speedstep is enabled in the bios.

Download CPU-Z and see what the multiplier and FSB is set to.

You will need to have at set at 266MHZ FSB and Multiplier of 9.

I assume your not overclocked at the moment.

check in the bios for what Robzere31 said, under cpu management or something, speedstep stops you setting a multiplier and puts it at x6

There was something called C1E Support in CPU configuration i disabled it and it seems to have done the trick.

Looking like Intel speedstep reduces the multiplier to 6 when idle, raises when stressed to 9.
