Wondering if anyone has any tips for me on this. Since using Vista, all the source games I play (Source Forts and Dystopia mainly) have been suffering from a weird kind of frame rate lag. It's really inconsitant, and sometimes I can play for an hour before I'll notice it. The problem has survived a fresh Vista install.

I tried some memory tweaks via autoexec.cfg and things seemed to improve but it's difficult to measure, it might just be a placebo effect.

As far as I can tell my other games are fine.

Specs:

x2 4400
2 gigs geil value ram
DFI NF4 Ultra D
x1900 xt
Xfi

^ Specs really shouldn't be an issue.

The only other thing I could think of is that it may be some kind of memory leak.

I'm having trouble finding people with the same issue, so if anyone has any thoughts I'm open to all suggestions.

Cheers

Any idea what proccesses might be to blame? I'm going to review logs and look into this properly tonight.

Going to have to bump this I'm afraid.

Still getting these issues. I'm not sure but I think it may be in Far Cry too (I am running it on full settings but I dunno).

Really stumped on what it could be.

I'm convinced it's a Vista issue. I still have my XP install safe and I never have this problem there.

I don't see anything obvious when I look ay my processes. The only thing I think might be effecting things is Superfetch. I haven't really had time to investigate it properly but when I turned it off lagging in Farcry appeared to be less, but the same in Dystopia
