I just bought and installed said CPU cooler and on the specs, it says the fan runs at 1300 RPM at full speed or 900 RPM if you fit the 'silent mode' cable.
Using HWMonitor, without the silent mode cable on, it will not go faster than 889 RPM and with the cable on, it won't spin at all! Is it likely to be faulty?
I've gone into BIOS and disabled smart fan so it runs at full speed. Still won't go any faster!
It stays around 900 RPM constantly though. CPU temps on my Phenom 965BE aren't too great either, getting up to the maximum temp of 62c, only with a slight OC to 3600.
I've thought of buying a molex fan adapter and running the CPU fan off the PSU. Might this help?
