Slow FTP transfers to XBox?

I am trying to ftp some files to my original Xbox which has XMBC installed but the ftp process is painfully slow and times out.

It starts transfering at a good rate then drops right down to 0 within seconds, I guess it is my Linksys router that is the problem but I am not sure what I need to change in my settings.

Anyone got any suggestions?

are you using vista ? as i found when i upgraded to vista i had very bad slow transfer and i have no idea why!!

try this you may need to fiddle with firewalls on vista but it runs a little webpage on your pc that any device on your network can see. You drag the files you wan to share onto it and then type the url in you xbox or n95 and transfer at full speed.

Try using a different transfer mode (passive/active) on your ftp client.

In the end all I did was set up a static IP on my PC and that sorted it.
