I have a Linksys BEFSR41 & 10mbit Blueyonder connection, when I plug my PC directly into the modem I get 10mbit, but when I use the router, I only get around 5mbit.

Any sugestions?

the same thing here was going to post the same question.

I have a 10Mb Blueyonder plus Linksys router and the speed is over the place, once I plug direct into the pc solid 10mb

Turn the router over and read the version number. If it's a v1 or a V2 then the WAN (internet) port is only 10Mb and NOT 100Mb as on the later models.
Only the LAN ports are 100Mb.

Only fix is to change the router for one with a 100Mb WAN port or plug in direct.

This information is found deep in the manual for the V2 routers and confirmed by taking the router apart to find the Realtek 8029 chip inside.

It doesn't say anywhere on the router if it's V1 or V2, however i'm guessing it is.

I'll dig out the manual and see if it says there.

On a side note, I update the firmware to the lastest one on the Linksys website, I was able to go from 500kb/sec to around 700kb/sec, so a slight improvement.

The problem was I was getting loads of problems with that firmware, downloads would just constantly cut out etc. So downgraded again.

Now.... *looks for the manual*

On the bottom of the router is a sticker.

says:-

Linksys Instant Broadband™
Etherfast Cable/DSL Router

And a serial number sticker on that.

Right below the word Linsys should be the model number.
Such as - Model No BEFSR41 V.2

And in the paper manual on page 68.
Speed - (LAN) 10/100Mbps, (WAN) 10Mbps

On one sticker it says BEFRS41B, but thats it.

Couldn't find the manual either.

I'll just buy a new router.
