Slow iTunes update via iTunes

I hope someone can help me out here.
Im trying to update to the latest iTunes, when i do the auto update via iTunes it takes forever, its been on for 4 hours now and im not even half way through the 67meg update, yet if i download direct from the apple site its done in 15 secs.

From my understanding i need to do it through iTunes or my tunes and apps etc etc will be lost

Anyone know why in gods name its taking ages to update via iTunes ??

Get all your kit restarted for a starter.

I just downloaded via the system wide Software Update, maybe try that if you're having issues.
