Slow LAN Transfer Speed.

Currently only getting around 11/12MB/s transfer speed. I think the problem might lie in the cable which are Cat5 and my D-Link router. Anyway could I boost up the speed without changing hardware or should I just purchase some Cat6 cable and a Gigabit switch?

What router is it? Looks like it has 100Mb ports on it. You'd need to change it out with one that has Gb ports on or buys a Gb switch.

One of the cheap ones that you get with TalkTalk. I'll just get a cheap Gigabit switch and cables.

Gigabit switch and make sure the current cables are Cat5e and not just Cat5.

Plug everything into the gigabit switch, then one cable from the gigabit switch into the router.
