Slow loading of files in Windows 10

tried associating a different software as default?
just to see if it does the same
if it does
my guess is its to do with create thumbnails cache
you can clear it using disk clean up
then could use folder view and do show icon
instead of show preview/thumbnail
unless its important you see a thumbnail of your videos

or could try right click folder the files are in
properties
customise
if its set to video change to general items, tick subfolders and apply

I've been having this too.

If I run the indexing troubleshooter (Settings --> Search --> Searching Windows --> Run The Indexer Troubleshooter... (at the very bottom) it ends up saying that it fixed an error - "Windows Search is not working". Very helpful.

The fix works but it doesn't last long.

Is it the same for you?

Edit - sorry just watched your video and my explorer doesn't act like that. Mine just shows the dreaded green bar slowly progressing across the top.

As above posts have mentioned this is a `feature`of windows 10 and generally down to the caching of thumbnails. You can fix `for a while` by using the disk cleanup option.
You will see it more in a `downloads` type folder with loads of different filetypes.

In this particular case I suspect its down to vlc. You have that particular video extension associated with vlc. So every time it needs thumbnail info it will query vlc and attempt to decode the file.
It does this ok at the end of the video and shows them, but clearly isnt saving that info in the cache.
As above also mentions, I would fix this by changing the layout of the folder for that folder only, to have less info and no thumbnails.
