Hi all,

I recently purchased my first ever NAS - a Synology DS215j

Its using a wired connection to my Virgin Superhub as is my PC

When reading/writing to the NAS though the speeds never go above 12 MBs. I tried plugging my laptop directly into the NAS and the speeds were over 40 MBs. Based on this I know that the cable is working correctly.

What I don't understand though is why when I plug into the router do the speeds become terrible... anybody got any suggestions?

If you're seeing 12MBps it's probably a 100Mbps connection.

Ether the Superhub doesn't support Gigabit or there's something forcing it down to 100Mbps (wiring fault?).

That crossed my mind after I made the post but the NAS NIC on the status is reporting as Full Duplex 1000 Mbps and the Superhub is Gigabit also.

Ahhh.. I forgot I had a D-Link DIR-615 going to the Superhub and this was broadcasting the wireless SSID. My PC was also plugged into it....

It was the bottleneck at 100 Mbs -.- all fixed now.

Thanks ;)
