Slow net speed on pc yet perfect on laptop

As the title says, my pc net connection is slow. Some websites i'm unable to browse though yet my laptop manages load up the same web pages with ease.

The pc is connected the adsl modem router via cat5 and the laptop is wirless. Both laptop is running win7 business and the pc is running win7 ultimate.

No idea how to sort it so I was hoping the oc comminity might have some ideas.

We're gonna need more info, could be auto-negotiate issues, could be to do with processes on the desktop, could be a lot of things.

Tried using a different browser? It would be very telling to know if another browser had the same problem.

I know IE8 has a lot of interfering bits and bobs like accelorators, secure modes, phishing checks etc etc... really though this could be a number of things so you will need to provide people with more detail.
