Having problems all of a sudden with windows 7 connecting the network icon on startup, windows is only a few days old and this wasnt a problem a few days ago.
im connected via ethernet.

Instead of booting up and the network icon is connected i have to wait 1-3 mins to wait for the blue circle to refresh and settle.

I havent got any programs in msconfig that i dont usually have, and ive uninstalled entrys that i dont really need, but still have this problem?

Ive rebooted router.

uninstalled drivers for the realtek pcie controller and installed the drivers from the disk.

As far as i can tell i havent installed any software that i dont usually install, i have installed a new mobo this week but the network icon was ok,until now

Ive had this problem in the past with vista many times but this is the first with windows 7 any ideas guys? as this is driving me nuts.

Have you tried setting a static IP etc? Just wondering if it's having trouble picking up an address if it's set to get it from DHCP.

Checked the eventlog to see if there's any clues? Just wondering if it's too busy trying to connect to a network on the wrong device, like wireless instead of cabled or vice versa if you have wireless.

Mine started doing this some time after I had installed Win7 and it stayed like it for ages, some times about 5mins until I copuld go online. The last couple of weeks it has gone back to being on almost straight away. I haave not changed anything. So if you are having the same thing as me don't worry it only lasts a month or 3

well i found the culprit it was a windows update cant remember which one but it was very recent and has been mentioned on these forums.
i can now reboot and now not have to wait 3 min before i can access anything.
