slow pc can anyone help

Yesterday my pc was working perfectly fine

then when i shut it down it appear to be hanging for no reason after 10 or so mins i pressed the power button to shut it down

thinking it was strange I restarted the pc and notice that the boot speed had gone from roughly 20 sec to over 2 mins

and the whole pc feel slow examples are opening a web page now takes 3-4 seconds where before it was less than 1 second

the pc feels slow not sluggish everything works but just very slow like ive just turned down the speed

opening a tab or a new window in a browser will all happen straight away from the click of the button but just slide out slowly

even scrolling the mouse will be slow but moving the mouse on the screen is normal

it completely looks like my pc speed has been slowed down to 1 tenth the speed it had before

have you checked the task manager to see if there is anything eating the computers resources? Could be a virus

If your disk is getting full (red zone) that could be the issue.

Backup && Format, reset bios, memtest, log files... the usual things can help clear problems.

Test your harddrive for errors, this sounds much like the harddrive might be on the way out.

i did check my task manager processes 68 cpu usage 1% and physical memory 23%

checked every program and it appears to be everything i need

even bios is slow and sluggish
ive run a complete virus check
ive even played games but they appear to be playing half speed

but in the last few mins is appears to be a little quicker not like before but just noticeable a little bit quicker

but it is still slow

edit i just been looking now at its speed if it was 10 times slower before its probably 5 times slower now

both the hard drives are at about 50%

ssd is 125 gb out of 250
and the other drive is 500gb out of 1 tb

found the problem

yep it was my son he was eating ice cream next to my pc and a part of it fell must have fallen off and landed on my ipod touch connecting wire it must have run down the wire to the exposed pins and shorted it or been giving the computer some over loaded command

as soon as i unplugged it things started to move fast i then rebooted and everything was normal again
