Strange one this.
PC is ridiculously slow until...a "big file" is opened.
For example, while typing this only the letters "Str" appear unless I either click on an adjoining background scree (PC is still laggy but the letters "catch up"") OR, the more normal solution is to open a big file, like, say, Hearts of Iron IV.
Once I've opened programme, the machine will run perfectly.
Next day however, like grounhog day.
It's not the end of the world, but it is extremely annoying.
Many thanks.

Computer spec?

How full is your HHD and how many things do you have running at startup?

For now clear your trash bin (check size before emptying) and also clear your 'complete' browser history and reboot.

I would also defrag/optimise your HDDS (if not scheduled to do so) and check the health of your drive via windows.

Can I ask - does the pc exhibit the same behaviour whether it's been on for a while or just started? Because if it only happens following a boot I'd suggest looking at your start up programs/services as Plec has advised above
