Not really a network person but problem as follows....

In our office we have 5 computers on a wireless network through BT Business Broadband. Connected directly to the Wirelss hub through an Ethernet connection is a photocopier which we all share.

My problem is that it takes upto 20secs to print, is this normall or are their settings i can change.

We use a wireless 11g USB adapter to connect to the Hub and our speeds are at 54.0 Mbps.

Quick help most appreciated. :)

The printer ain't going into hibernation mode is it? (Standby) or anything like that?

I think that was the problem.

Will alter those settings in the photocopier

Cheers. Ta for your help

Update us all when you have it looked at. Would like to know if you get this fixed. In the settings tell it not to go into standby mode or hibination.

If the hibernation settings dont cure the issue how big is the document your printing? If its a large doc then have you set it to spool doc before printing or to print straight away?

Can find those settings in the properties of the print driver on your machine :)

Ive altered settings in the RICOH Aficio 2016 admin mode, but still to no avail.

When a document goes to print it still has a lag of about 20secs.

Ive opened documents from Microsoft Word which are just small documents and still the same is happening, when i tell it to print again it goes through quickly and so on.

You perhaps need to consider that all printers will have a lead time before they start printing anything. This 'Time to First Page Out' can vary from 5 to 30 seconds.

Before we went wireless it took only a couple of seconds to start printing and these were detailed drawings.

Finally solved it. Had to hardwire the printers ethernet directly into one of the computers and use that as the host and share off that.

Hey Presto, back to normal again. ;)
