"Windows is shutting down" for a long time before it reboots or shuts down

May i know what could be causing this?
Do i have to format my system again?

Thanks

Also does this on mine, but that's because I've enabled 'Clear Pagefile @ Shutdown' (highly recommend performance & security feature) :)

hmm so what could my problem be?
Download this, run it & check if above is enabled :)

Forgot to mention that on my system it can take-up-to a minute on that screen before shutting down/rebooting :)

Also

Thanks for the link , will try and see how it goes..

This will work..

Write this in notepad and save as "restart.bat" - ensuring it changes from a notepad txt file to a batch file before testing.

The syntax should be as follows:

shutdown -r -f -t 1

This will (r)estart the machine (f) forcing any programs or processes to shutdown and will commence (t) 1 second after clicking on the batch file.

:)

i tried using the ms fix, and the result is when i press reboot, it will imme shut off everything and go to the logging off screen, but it wil still stuck at the shutting down screen for awhile before rebooting..

any other ways to solve ?

Thanks..

Shutdown processes, meaning immediating going to the light blue screen for windows shutdown?
thats the place that my comp stucks at..

That's all well and good but it does not solve the problem. Passing in -f to Shutdown forces applications and process to terminate instantly, possible causing loss of data etc... Not really the best solution. His install is taking a long time to reboot for a reason.

hmm, any other methods to solve this problem? could it be hardware related? seems like i'm sstil getting it after reformatin and reinstalling my stuffs.. or is it due to certain software that i installed that is causing the problem?

anyone? now the situation improved, sometimes it boots quite quickly, but sometimes it still stucks at the "windows is shutting down" screen..
