Slow Running?

Hi there,

One of my computers is paying up, basically it just seems to be running very slowly, i've built this computer fairly recently out of a few spares I had around. Its got an asus p4v88+ motherboard with a 3.0ghz p4 processor and around 1 1/2 gigs or ram. The only anomoly is the single drive is plugged into the second sata slot as the first was a touch wobbly and whistles whenever I do anything on the computer. Any ideas? I'll try and add a printscreen of the task managed but basically the cpu usuage goes up to around 70-100% whenever I do anything but the available memory stays around 1159956. This morning I had to wait around 5 minutes to open internet explorer and then wait for pages to load etc when on my other machine they load instantly.

You sure its a PC not a kettle you're using?

Run something like sissoft sandra and see what part of your pc is causing the slowdown

have you done all your virus, spyware, ad-ware etc scans?honestly no idea how much they can boost a computer preformance if you havn't done one in over a month

After several failed attemps at making tea I deduce that it is indeed a computer, shall try your magic program As for spyware etc i've just installed fsecure on my second attempt but it has made no difference.
