My situation:
The bt main socket is in a workshop via an over head cable from bt.
I have then run an extension from in the main socket to a static cara van, this cable is approx 30m.
I have decided to run a network cable instead to get a faster speed, so I would have the router in the workshop.
The trouble is I have just been into the workshop to test the speed and I get exactly the same speed direct from the main socket?
I was thinking the speed would have increased, but I used the o2 box and the speed was 880Kbps and used a linksys wag160n and got 1300Kbps. My current speed from the telephone extension is 1288Kbps
