Hi Guys
Can anyone help/give advice with a problem I am having with Talktalk?
Since the exchange I am on was unbundled back in 2007 the speed I was getting was around 2.5meg but about 7 weeks ago that dropped to less than half that with constant drop outs.
I have spent a lot of time on the phone to second line support and talking to people on their member’s forum.
They got me to do all the usual stuff like change filters, use the master test socket, different router etc, they have tried changing the line profiles, none of which made any difference except some profiles would not let any web pages load at all even so the router stats page said the line speed was about 2meg.
I am told that engineers have checked the exchange and found no problems because they can see a line speed of whatever going to the router so they will not investigate further. I then have another moan at them they get me to change filters, plug into the test socket etc do more line tests, report fault to engineers to check the exchange.....and so we keep going round in circles. I my mind nothing breaks down after 2 years of quite steady performance without reason so there has to be a problem somewhere.
I have told them if they don’t hurry up and resolve this problem I will go elsewhere.
Yesterday they have finally agreed to get an engineer to check the line up to the phone socket/internal wiring in my house (if there is a problem in the house it will cost me...though I am confident there won’t be).
When I stressed that if things don’t get sorted soon I will leave talktalk, the chap I was talking to said if the line has just degraded to a point where it cannot support any faster speed it would be unlikely that talktalk/bt would replace it until it completely failed and until then I would have to put up with slow/poor speeds and there would be no point changing ISP’s either.
Am I being fobbed off here? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
