Slow speeds after changing ISP

Previously had around 15 down 1 up. On the BT Wholesale speed checker it was showing 19 max achievable for the line, IP profile around 17, upload was at the max. Prior to that it was an 8 down 440(ish) up connection, was getting around 7 down and maxing the upload with that

Since changing the max achievable on the BTWholesale site is 4, IP profile 2.5. Max upload has changed to 448k , only getting about 200k

Would I be right in thinking they need to reset the IP Profile?

This is for my dad....when he phoned up they told him it can take 10 days to get back to full speed...I thought it would start high then reduce to stabilize?
Is there anything from the ISP/open reach side they could have done when switching to cause the poor speeds?

not LLU, the most you could get until January of this year was 8 down/3-400k up ADSL max I think
it was upgraded to 17 down 1 up in January ADSL2+ I think is the name of that
BT and Zen were the previous ISP's...both gave about the same speeds
I don't have the new ISP's name to hand but it's a small unknown company

You might want to find what the ISP is called. Chances are they are borrowing BT's equipment if they don't have LLU and is stuck on bog standard ADSL, as well as having lower priority.

sounds about right

it's now up to 7.15 max achievable, upload is syncing at 448....performing same as it was before the exchange was upgraded to ADSL2 earlier this year

spoke to them yesterday and they said they need 3 days worth of tests (that my dad has to do, then upload them) so they can send them to openreach before they can reset or adjust the ip profile.
he did say it was meant to be an up to 19 service but can take 10 days for it to get up to speed.
I remember once when the phoneline was broken in high winds the IP Profile needed reset, Zen did it when I was on the phone! full speed straight away...

it's £7 a month btw,

Asus N55U router....

it's like it's just on ADSL (up to 8), not even ADSL2

as said the upload capped at 448 is what it was with ADSL, when it was upgraded to ADSL2 it synced just over or under (cant remember) 1mb

I got one of those :)
So yes it will do ADSL2+
Pity my line will only support 3559 down and 816 up,well today anyway :(
