Slow Speeds and Lost Connections

Hi,

I am with Pipex and I am getting continual slow speeds and drop outs of the service. Download speeds are averaging about 1.5 mbs from various speed test sites and web pages are sometimes taking an age to come up.

Can anyone tell from my router stats whether it is the ISP or my six year old DG834 V2 that is the main problem?

Connection Speed. Down 8128kbps - Up 448 kbps
Line Attenuation. Down 23 db - Up 5.5 db
Noise Margin Down 11 db - Up 27db

Any advice would be appreciated.

Axel

BT Wholesale ADSL
BT Wholesale ADSL Max
TalkTalk (CPW) LLU

ADSL is available in your area
Your exchange is also enabled for ADSL Max services
Your exchange is not yet enabled for ADSL2+ services

According to BT Wholesale, your phone line should be able to support a 5.5Mbps or greater ADSL connection via ADSL Max.

Pipex does not have LLU so must be going through BT.

Pipex used to be half decent but then they got bought out by some company and then employed David Hasselhoff to advertise. It went downhill from there.

Not sure if I'd go Talk Talk though but with your line stats you'd get full 20+mbit speeds.

No other LLU available?

Thanks for that.

TalkTalk is the only LLU available at my exchange and according to Top10.com their average speed over 32 tests is 12.9 mbs.

When I signed up with Pipex about nine years ago they were very near the top of all the charts I looked at for speed, stability and customer service. As you say it has been all downhill since then. TalkTalk were a joke a few years ago when they first offered "free broadband" but most people I have spoken to have no problems now.

Not sure, but very low. We do not download movies or music albums or any large files on a regular basis. We used to have a 5GB limit with Pipex and never once had a problem with usage.

They employed Hasselhoff to be in their adverts shortly before they were bought by Tisacli. Many customers jumped ship when they found out as we all know how bad they are.

Hmmm. I'd probably say go TalkTalk or PlusNet.

Xilo use TalkTalks LLU equipment, I can certainly recommend them. Not the cheapest but a good connection and service.
