Slow speeds through ethernet

Just bought an Aspire Revo at the weekend and using it with my VM 50mb line. I'm using my ethernet cable directly plugged into the system, but I'm getting slow speeds on Astraweb.

I've tested the connection speed on other systems in the house and they're getting the full 50mb connection wirelessly, but the Revo is managing around 30mb at best. Obviously the ISP or connection itself is not the problem.

I've installed the latest ethernet drivers from Nvidia and things have improved slightly but still nowhere near the 50mb I have installed.

Any ideas?

Tried a different cable?

I wouldn't expect it, but perhaps there's a hardware limitation with the Revo, they're a fairly basic spec, but I would expect it to handle more than that.

My iMac is getting the full 50mb with the same cable so I doubt that's the problem.

You're right, the Revo is a fairly basic model, but they have Gigabit ethernet so it should surely manage 50mb?

I would have thought so.

Was the Revo supplied with a driver disc? I'd try loading on the ethernet drivers from that if possible, in case there's a bug in newer revisions. Usually it's the other way around, but most of the time the supplied drivers work 100%.
