I've got a problem where i still have a fast bootup and fast startup, but the bit where Windows says it's "starting up" hangs. It's been doing this for a while, but i'm not sure why. Any ideas?
I will get rid of all my USB stuff and see how it goes.
Nope, still the same.
I've did most things however; defrag, get rid of unwanted services, startup processes in msconfig, deleted unwanted fonts, anything to get the pause gone. I think a process is having trouble with something but as i only have 21 processes on startup i'm stumped.
since i've been at uni i've been plugged into a LAN and to put it as nice as possible...its been slowly raping my comp.....hang times are consistant. but now i have zonelabs zone alarm...shuts all the uni port scans etc out which i guess where the cause. dunno if this helps
Tried unplugging the RJ45 and disabling the onboard LAN port but still the same. I also hooked myself up with PerfectDisk's smart placement defraggin' but again, still the same. I then deleted around 20GB of program files/games but alas still the same. Any other ideas guys?
