slow text entry in red alert 2

Hi, when i run red alert 2 yuris revenge, if i try and type the text gets entered very slowly as though there is a delay somewhere.

specs:
opteron 146 @ 2.7
2gb ram
nvidia 6800

it may be because i am overclocked, but it did work before even with the overclock. does anyone have any ideas?
also it doesn't happen on my laptop.
