Slow wireless file sending

I have a home network with a HTPC and my laptop. If I copy a large file and send it from my laptop to the PC it takes ages currently a 2gb file is 15mins. If I connect the laptop to the router I have directly with a cable it is much quicker i.e. 8 minutes.

What gives, anyway of speeding up my network. If the wireless adaptor is 10MB a sec why so slow?

What wireless router and wireless adaptors are you using ??


You never normally get anywhere near the full speed they quote for a wireless adaptor...

Same normally goes for Gigabit Ethernet Ports...
