Slowdown on FIFA 12?

I recently purchased a 680 (gone from 6870CF) and have been playing FIFA 12 maxed@1080. But I keep getting instances of a slowdown (for example, on a long ball forward). I have tried turning off the Microstutter protection, v-sync on and off, turning of AA and disabling Aero but I am still getting the issue. I don't seem to get it when I play on my LCD TV @768. I'm pretty sure it didn't happen with my old setup....

Does anybody else get this issue and is there something to alleviate it? Maybe something in the Nvidia CP?

I had lots of issues with this game, mainly with terrible stutter online with random club match crashes. I found a few ways to fix it and get it ultra smooth. One reason was because I had the retail version installed, I was told by someone to ditch the retail version and download it fresh from Origin, this fixed a few problems but to be 100% smooth I have to run D3DOverider which forces v-sync and triple buffer, I then use MSI afterburner and cap the game at 60fps.

I now have a nice smooth stutter free game.

I am also using the Origin version, I should have said that in my first post.

As for your suggestions, I'll give that a try over the weekend. Hopefully it works. Thanks for the advice.

I have managed to use the D3DOverider as you recommended but can't figure out how to do the FPS with MSI Afterburner?

Could you advise me on how to cap the frame rate? Thanks.
