Slower in some tasks

I have a friend who has a 3200 Winchester and 1gb Ram.

He has it clocked to 2.4ghz.

He can unrar a film (4.35gb in under 2 minutes)

I've seen a screenshot so i know he's not lying

My spec is this -

Athlon Opteron 146 @2.6Hz
DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR
Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro
2Gb G.Skill ZX
BFG nVidia GeForce 7800 GT OC VIVO
Hitachi Deskstar 80GB SATA-II 8MB Cache

I'm unrarring a 4.3gb DVD and it just took 7/8 minutes

Why is it so slow?
