hey

i just got a half decnt deal with virgin.

before i was on 350mb package and on my pc with my tp link av1300 home plugs i was getting 370mb download speed

now i have gig internet, nothing has changed apart from the hub and im getting 200-250.

i have router - 8 meter cat6 - home plug - directly up above, home plug - 1 meter cat6 - pc

so, i dragged my pc downstairs, nearly killed me with all the rads and water hahha, pluged cable in direct and im getting 900mb,
whats confusing me is, if it worked before and i was maxing out my old router, with same setup, why do i have a problem now?

any ideas, thanks


also, my son has the same plugs and same speeds in his room and now the same issue :(

Have you tried to see what speeds the plugs are reporting internally to each other on the tpPLC manager tool vs what you are getting from the router via whichever external dpeedtest you are using?

If not, it's probably worth giving it a look to try and narrow the cause down.

its saying 845

so do you think its the cable to my pc? the one to mine and my sons are both from virgin media that will of come with tv boxs, both are cat6 tho.

Ive tested router to pc. Getting 900mb with that. So it must be the virgin cable. Ill buy another cable today, hopefully that sorts it out. Even if i get around 800mn ill be happy.

Its really puzzling me that with the old router i was get a faster speed. That just makes no sense.

2 PC's phones and tv. Thats it.

No, straight into the wall.

The hub has a few ports. One says something like 2.5ghz i think. But ive tried different ports on the hub as well and the plugs

Going getting another cable. Im praying its virgins cables. As both the ones to my computer and my sons are virgin cables but the one feom the router to the first plug are from the auction site

its the same setup cable wise. just the router got swapped

with the site sam knows it says router 1144 / device (desktop) 235
with the TP app it says the conection between plus is 898 now everyone has gone school/work and just the pc and router is on

Think im going to drill a hole in the ceiling. But i need to work out the best way to get good speeds to my sons pc in the next room without drilling more hiles and more cables.
 
@Minato and @5abr3 so after hours and hours of messing with diffent sockets, wires and updating drivers and the firmware on the plugs,
i decided to rip the carpet up and the floor board, stick a hole in the celling and run a wire.

its amazing how fast P hub loads now :D

think next step is to get a splitter, then run the home plug from my run to my sons room and hopefully, because its on the same cuircuit, it should run fine

anyways, thanks for your help!

I thought the AV1300 was a split kit with one of the units having multiple ethernet ports? If so, try using that as your switch in the room with the hard line down to the router, plug your desktop in to that too and that  should be that...

ah yeah your right.

just tried it.

im now getting 950 and my sons is up to 350 so its a bit better.

ill have a play with differnt socets and see how it goes,
